Science Research Students @ Stone Continue Their Winning Ways!

Stone science research students competed in two competitions this weekend and had an amazing showing.

Both of these competitions are state level science events that are extremely competitive.

Florida Junior Academy of Science

The Florida Junior Academy of Science held it’s annual conference and paper competition at the Florida Institute of Technology on Saturday March 11th. Outstanding research students from all over Florida were invited to present their research. Junior division students presented in one of three categories: Biological Science, Environmental Science and Physical Science.

Stone students took two of the three 1st place awards! Happy

The results are as follows:
Karah G. - 1st place in Biological Science
Mason W. - 1st place in Physical Science
Marie D. - 2nd place in Biological Science
Mellissa S. - 4th place in Biological Science

The competition for bids to present is very tough - being selected to present is an honor and involves giving a formal “lecture style” presentation. The following students also presented their research and did a great job:

Fiona K.
Kyle K.
Brooke W.

Lockheed Martin Science Challenge at the Orlando Science Center

Stone researchers also participated in the Lockheed Martin Science Challenge at the Orlando Science Center on Saturday March 11th. This event is extremely competitive because all the participants are first place winners from central Florida regional science fairs and only one award in giving in each category. Stone students captured two 1st place awards!

Carlee J. - 1st place in Earth and Space Science
Almas A. - 1st place in Mathematics
