They’re on their way to the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

On Saturday, February 8th, the
Stone Royal Gophers competed in the FLL East Coast Regional Championship in Merritt Island. They competed against 27 other schools from all over Florida.

The Stone Royal Gophers did a great job and won the Judges Award. This award is for a team whose unique efforts, performance or dynamics merit recognition. They are a remarkable team that stands out to the judges.
 
The team bids for going on to the
Florida STATE FIRST LEGO League Championship were also awarded. Stone Royal Gophers were chosen to move on to State because of their excellent performances in all judging categories. This is a great accomplishment because there are 547 teams in Florida this season. 48 Teams move on to State; only 3 teams from Brevard County made it to the State Championship.

The Florida State FIRST LEGO League Championship will be on Sunday, March 2nd at the UCF Arena in Orlando. The Royal Gophers will be competing against 47 other teams from all over the state of Florida.

On Saturday, December 14th, the Stone Royal Gophers competed in their second tournament, The SPAM Challenge Tournament in Stuart, FL.

Stone Royal Gophers did a great job and won first place again for the Technical/Robot Design Award. This award recognizes a team that designs and develops a mechanically sound robot that is durable, efficient and highly capable of performing challenge missions, and utilizes outstanding programming principles, including clear, concise and reusable code that allows their robot to perform challenge missions autonomously and consistently, and also, uses solid engineering practices and a well-developed strategy to design and build an innovative, high performing robot.

Saturday, November 17, 2012, the Stone Royal Gophers competed in the Fall Madness FLL Regional Qualifying Tournament in Orlando.
They won a bid to the Florida State FIRST LEGO League Regional Championship, that will be held in early February 2013. They are one of 96 teams that will earn its way to the Florida Regional Competitions. This is a great accomplishment as there are over 500 FLL teams in Florida this year!!!

Last Tournament for Lego Robotics!

T he Stone Robo Gophers and the Stone Princess Gophers competed in their last tournament of the season, The Rassma TAZ BOT FLL Tournament at Poinciana Elementary in Boynton Beach!

Both teams did an awesome job!! They worked so hard, kept on trying, never gave up, and had fun. Words can not explain how proud I am of them. They represented Stone in such a positive and proud way!!!! GOPHER POWER is definitely felt at these tournaments!

The

Robo Gophers Win the Overall Team Spirit Award at State

Stone Robo Gophers competed Sunday, February 27th at the Florida FLL State Championship.

We had an awesome, long day and the team did fantastic!

The
Robo Gophers won the Overall Team Spirit Award for rocking the house and making engineering and technology fun, accessible and rewarding. They were very visible all day long cheering for ALL teams. This is our 3rd Year in a row winning this award for the State. GOPHER POWER is definitely #1 in the State of Florida!!

Two of our team members were honored with individual Gracious Professionalism awards that were handed out throughout the competition by secret judges who saw the team members doing acts of gracious professionalism. They were awarded a special championship coin and then they were called up to the front and given Florida FLL Backpacks. Those honored with this award were Troy Gregory and Troy St. Louis.

Also, Mrs. Coleman was awarded with the Gold Level Presidential Volunteer Service Award in recognition of her dedication to FIRST LEGO League of Florida. She received a certificate, special pin, and a letter from President Barack Obama.

As you see, the
Stone Robo Gophers had a great day. As always, they represented Stone Middle School in a positive and proud way.

Robo Gophers Head for Lego League State Championship

Stone Robo Gophers competed in the FLL East Coast Regional Championship at Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School! They competed against 28 other schools from all over Florida.

Stone Robo Gophers won the “JUDGES AWARD”! During the course of competition the judges may encounter a team whose unique efforts, performance, or dynamics merit recognition. Our Stone teams are definitely set apart from the other teams in an unique way. This award recognizes the most remarkable team and the judges favorite team. They always have the Gopher Mascot at the competitions. Everyone definitely knows their Spirited Team and they engage the other teams and spectators in their enthusiasm and fun. THEY ARE THE GOPHERS!! They are honored to have won this award.

The team bids for going on to the Florida STATE FIRST LEGO League Championship were also awarded. To move on to State, teams need to score high enough in all 4 categories of Robot Design & Performance, Project/Research Presentation, Teamwork, and most importantly Gracious Professionalism, to be one of 10 teams with the highest overall scores.
Stone Robo Gophers were chosen to move on to State because of their excellent performances in all 4 of these categories!!!! They are so excited, this is such an awesome accomplishment! There are over 400 teams in Florida this season.

The Florida State FIRST LEGO League Championship will be on Sunday, February 27th at the Clemente Center at Florida Tech. The
Robo Gophers will be competing against 46 other teams from all over the state of Florida. Florida Tech is just down the street, so you can come out and cheer them on! They would love to have a large supporting audience all dressed in ORANGE & BLACK!

Stone Princess Gophers Conclude Season With "Judges Award"

On Saturday, January 29th, the Stone Princess Gophers competed in the FLL South Regional Championship at Roosevelt Elementary School! They competed against 28 other schools from all over Florida.

The
Stone Princess Gophers did an awesome job!! They worked so hard, came together perfectly as a team, and had a blast. They represented Stone in such a positive and proud way!!!!

Unfortunately, the
Princess Gophers, have ended their tournament journey. They did not receive one of the ten bids to the State Championship. The Princess Gophers have worked so hard and have improved immensely throughout the season. They kept on trying and never gave up, no matter what!

Stone Princess Gophers Receive Bid

Congratulations to the Stone Princess Gophers; they are on their way to regionals! They are a team that embodies the Florida Lego League (FLL) experience, by fully embracing the Core Values while achieving excellence and innovation in both the Robot Game and Project.

On Saturday, December 4, 2010, the Stone Princess Gophers competed in the Westside FLL Regional Qualifying Tournament at Westside Elementary in Palm Bay!

They won a bid to the Florida State FIRST LEGO League Regional Championship, that will be held in late January 2011. They are one of 96 teams that will earn its way to the Florida Regional Competitions. This is a great accomplishment as there are 350 FLL teams in Florida this year!!!

On Saturday, November 20th, the Stone Princess Gophers (the All Girl’s LEGO/Robotic Team) competed in their 1st tournament of the season, The Helping Hands FLL State Regional Qualifying Tournament at Ascension Catholic School in Melbourne!

The Stone Princess Gophers did a great job and won the Core Values Award. This award is for Inspiration, Teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism. It celebrates a team that is empowered by their FLL experience and displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit. They are able to accomplish more together than they could as individuals through shared goals, strong communication, effective problem solving and excellent time management. Conclusion of Lego Robotics Season

Stone Robo & Princess Gophers competed Sunday, February 28th at the Florida FLL State Championship.

We had an awesome, long day and the teams did fantastic!

The
Princess Gophers won the Overall Team Spirit Award for rocking the house and making engineering and technology fun, accessible and rewarding. They were very visible in their LEGO crowns cheering for ALL teams. Plus the Princess Gophers had their team picture in the Championship Program.

The
Robo Gophers won an award for being an Outstanding Ambassador Team, they finished in the top 8 teams for Technical/Robot Design, and finished #10 for robot performance.

Two of our team members were honored with individual Gracious Professionalism awards that were handed out throughout the competition by
secret judges who saw the team members doing acts of gracious professionalism. They were awarded a special championship coin and then they
were called up to the front and given Florida FLL Backpacks. Those honored with this award were Anna B. and Gabriel W.-V.

As you see, the Stone
Robo & Princess Gophers had a great day. As always, they represented Stone Middle School in a positive and proud way.

This past weekend, on Saturday, February 6th, the Stone Robo Gophers competed in the 2nd FLL East Coast Regional Championship at Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School! They competed against 24 other schools from all over Florida.

Stone Robo Gophers won Robot Performance 3rd Place and brought home a trophy! This award goes to the team whose robot is able to score the most points pursuing Challenge missions on the competition field. After each team has had a chance to run their robot for a minimum of three rounds, teams are ranked by their highest score in a single round. We had the third highest score and were only 1 little move off of having the highest score of the day.

The team bids for going on to the Florida STATE FIRST LEGO League Championship were also awarded. To move on to State, teams need to score high enough in all 5 categories of Robot Design, Robot Performance Score, Project/Research Presentation, Teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism, to be one of 12 teams with the highest overall scores.
Stone Robo Gophers were chosen to move on to State because of their excellent performances in all 5 of these categories!!!! We are so excited, this is such an awesome accomplishment!

The Florida State FIRST LEGO League Championship will be on Sunday, February 28th at the Clemente Center at Florida Tech. Both the

This past weekend, on Saturday, January 23rd, the Stone Princess Gophers competed in the FLL East Coast Regional Championship at Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School! They competed against 25 other schools from all over the east coast of Florida.

The
Stone Princess Gophers did an awesome job!! They worked so hard, came together perfectly as a team, and had a blast. Words can not explain how proud I am of them. They represented Stone in such a positive and proud way!!!!

Stone Princess Gophers won the "Judges’ Award" and brought home another trophy! During the course of competition the judges may encounter a team whose unique efforts, performance, or dynamics merit recognition. Some teams have a story that sets them apart in a unique way. Sometimes a team is so close to winning an award that the judges choose to give special recognition to the team. This award gives the judges the freedom to recognize the most remarkable team, their favorite team, for which a standard award does not exist. We are so honored to have won this award. The Princess Gophers are a rookie team with zero previous experience. They have worked so hard and have improved immensely throughout the season. They kept on trying and never gave up, no matter what!

The team bids for going on to the Florida STATE FIRST LEGO League Championship were also awarded. To move on to State you needed to score high enough in all 5 categories of Robot Design, Robot Performance Score, Project/Research Presentation, Teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism, to be one of 10 teams with the highest overall scores.

Princess Gophers–on Their Way to Regionals!

Congratulations to the Princess Gophers; they are on their way to regionals!
On Saturday, January 16, 2010, the Stone Princess Gophers competed in the Holy Trinity FLL State Regional Qualifying Tournament at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy in Melbourne!
They won a bid to the Florida State FIRST LEGO League Regional Championship. They are one of the 96 teams that has earned its way to the Florida Regional Competitions. This is a great accomplishment as there are more than 300 FLL teams in Florida this year!!!

They will be competing this coming Saturday, January 23rd at Cocoa Beach High School in the 1st East Coast FLL Florida State Regional Championship.

Robo Gophers won the ultimate award, the Director's Award!

Well, the Stone Robo Gophers did it again.

On Saturday, January 09, 2010, the Stone Robo Gophers competed in the Cape View Florida Lego League (FLL) State Regional Qualifying Tournament at Cape View Elementary in Cape Canaveral!

Stone Robo Gophers won the ultimate award,
the Director's Award!

The Director's Award is the most prestigious award that a team can win. It celebrates the ultimate success of the
FIRST mission and FLL Core Values. This award is for teams who passionately support a cause. For FLL, the Director's Award winners passionately inspire and motivate others about the excitement of science and technology, solving problems, working as a team, and demonstrating respect and Gracious Professionalism.

This is such an honor to win this award; it is a very exciting experience for the team!
Our team had the overall highest scores in all categories and had a fun, excellent day of competing and playing around in a very cold, sleet full day.

The Robo Gophers made Stone proud! Check out their new trophy in the front office!


Only Team to Solve the Teamwork Challenge!

On Saturday, December 19, 2009, the Stone Robo Gophers competed in the GEMS Florida Lego League State Regional Qualifying Tournament at Gardendale Elementary in Merritt Island!

Stone Robo Gophers came in 2nd Place overall for their great performances in robot technical design, research presentation, robot performance, gracious professionalism, and teamwork, being the ONLY team to correctly solve the teamwork challenge.

They also won a bid to the Florida State FIRST LEGO League Regional Tournament in February. They are one of the 96 teams that has earned its way to the Florida Regional Competitions. This is a great
accomplishment as there are more than 300 FLL teams in Florida this year!!!

The Stone Robo Gophers did an awesome job! I am so proud on how they performed and behaved!!

Stone Princess Gophers Debut Tournament

This past Saturday, December 5th, the Stone Princess Gophers (the All Girl’s LEGO/Robotic Team) competed in their 1st tournament, The Lightning Speed FLL State Regional Qualifying Tournament at Saturn Elementary in Cocoa!

The
Stone Princess Gophers did a great job and came in 1st Place in Team Spirit. Check out their plaque in the front office.

Judges say "WOW! for Robo Gophers Robot Design

On November 21st the Stone Robo Gophers (the LEGO/Robotics Team) competed in the McNair Motion Commotion FLL State Regional Qualifying Tournament in Rockledge!

The Stone Robo Gophers did a great job and came in 1st Place in Technical and Robot Design. With this award the judges look for teams whose work stands out and makes them say “wow!”.

Judges interview teams to learn their strategies for solving missions and their understanding of the design process. They also evaluate the robot’s mechanical design, degree of innovation, and programming effectiveness to further assess overall design quality.

We had a GREAT day and the team continues to make Stone proud! Check out their unique trophy in the front office.
