Violinists Recognized for Excellence

Stone will have two students representing us in the Brevard All-County Orchestra this year.

Jeremy S. and Melinda S. auditioned along with 300+ other middle school students.  Competition was fierce and only the best of Brevard successfully made it through the rigorous audition process.  Both Jeremy and Melinda earned a spot in the first violin section.  If you know these students or if you see them around campus please congratulate them for their efforts and accomplishments!

Brevard All-County Band Selects Stone Trombonist

Timothy S. has been selected to perform with the Brevard All-County band.  All the the students who participated worked hard to prepare for the audition and came away knowing they have learned a great deal and improved on their instrument.  The All-County band is a select group of musicians who are chosen to represent their schools through a rigorous audition process.

Timothy is to be commended for his hard work on the trombone.

Congrats to Tim!

Musicians at Stone are SUPERIOR!

The Stone Advanced Band received straight Superior ratings at their Music Performance Assessment (MPA). This is highest possible rating. They performed beautifully with poise and professionalism. A panel of judges listened and critiqued as the group performed. A sight-reading component also assessed the students ability to read and learn music. The superior rating is the result of much hard work and dedication from the advanced band students.

13 Stone band students participated in this year’s Solo and Ensemble (S&E) assessment. 4 students received a rating of “excellent” and 9 received a rating of “superior.” Students prepared the music on their own and performed for a judge. The judge listened and critiqued the performance giving each student a private lesson. This was a great showing for the stone band. All participants are very proud of their efforts and deserve to be congratulated.

Spring Music from Band & Orchestra

The talent and knowledge of Stone students was once again made obvious by our Band and Orchestra students during the Annual Band and Orchestra Spring Concert.

Featuring music from the Beginning Band, Beginning Orchestra, Strings Orchestra and Advanced Band, the Music department certainly demonstrated that Stone Students Rock!

A DVD of the concert will be made available by Ms. Carrick for a low price of $10 or a special bundle price of the Winter Concert and the Spring Concert for $10.
