Stone Visual Art students have been showing like crazy and have received recognition from area judges too!
Please congratulate the following students when  you see them:

Melbourne Art Festival Student Competition
Stone entered 5 pieces and 4 won judges prizes!   This is a first for Stone as it is a very popular show with a lot of competition.

Zack M. – showed his photograph entitled The Chevrolet Wheel
Amy S. – won honorable mention in the graphic arts category with her piece Many Roads
Phala “Erika” M. – won second place in the graphic arts category with her drawing The Exact Handle Bar and received a check for $50
Raquel G. won third place in painting with her Self Portrait winning $25

Phala “Erika” M. – won first place for her self portrait Shades of Blue and received another check for $75.

Erika is the first student since I have been at Stone Middle who received 2 judges awards from the Melbourne Art Festival!  The organizers told me yesterday when I picked it up that it was accidentally put with high school work and the judges were surprised that it was a middle school student.  Happy

Stone Shows Up at Space Coast Art Festival

Stone’s Art Teacher, Ms. Targee-Heid reports:
We had quite a few students with enough high-quality work to display one-person shows this past Saturday at the Space Coast Art Festival in Cocoa Beach. Since they had to enter a number of works, this is a huge accomplishment - we are only in November! Happy

The students that showed their work were:
Alex M.
Chelsea R.
Natalie B.
Amber G.
Lexi J.
Savannah F.

Now on to the recognitions – Stone took First Place in 2 out of 3 categories for for Middle Schools – and in that third category we took the 2nd Place!
Ellen S. - Second place in 3-D
Veronica R. - First place in painting
Jerilynn F. - First place in drawing

Our students had people from the North end of the county asking about Stone – and they got to brag a little about their school. The winners' work will be on display for the next month in Cocoa Beach and winners took home prize money.

Also - by the way - the only person representing Palm Bay H.S. was a Stone Art Alum. She is in 10th grade and won with a piece in the high school category that she did in Advanced Art two years ago!

It is my honor to announce our four finalists for the attorney general's Anti-Drug Calendar contest....
