Orchestra Students- Music to Our Ears!

Several orchestra students gave up their Saturday to participate in the
Florida Orchestra Association Solo and Ensemble Festival. Stone sent two
ensembles and five Soloists. They played for a judge who gave them a rating on a scale from Superior (I) to Poor (V). All of the orchestra students who represented Stone were very well prepared.

Stone Middle Schools Pre-Algebra math team brought home the 3rd place trophy in the written test at the Brevard Public Schools – Brevard County Teachers of Mathematics Math Competition!

Fitness PACER Test: Around again, and again, and again...

Stone's Athletic Department has an ongoing Fitness PACER Test that is a timed run and you must do a certain amount of laps to reach your healthy fitness zone level for your age. These students were passed there zone level for their age.

Students are allowed continue past their required level to try to break previous school records. They are the best of the best.

The Science of Winning . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "STONE STUDENTS ROCK!"

This past weekend we had two science related competitions Stone students competed in: the Orlando Science Center Science Challenge at the Orlando Science Center and the Florida Junior Academy of Sciences Conference at Jacksonville University.

Both of these events are very competitive - to enter the Science Challenge, students must be 1st place winners at a regional science fair in Central Florida and to present at the Florida Junior Academy of Sciences Conference, students are selected based on their written research from state-wide applicants.

The following students placed at one of these prestigious competitions:

Dalton S. for his project titled The Measurement of Sunspot Created Interference at Various Radio Frequencies

Stone Students Take 1 out of every 5 Invites to Florida Junior Academy!

The following science research students have been invited to present their research at the annual Florida Junior Academy of Science State conference. Approximately 50 students from the entire state win the opportunity to present at Junior Academy. Students are selected based on a formal research paper that was submitted for judging in January.

The conference and competition will be held in Jacksonville on Saturday 3/15/08 at Jacksonville University.

Honoring Heros and Remembering the Struggle for Equality

The following students did a terrific job on a theatrical presentation for Black History month. Stone conducted two assemblies and these students did dramatic readings of famous African Americans. Thanks for helping us remember the struggle for equality among races and providing a window into American History.

Congratulations to the Stone Middle School Chorus students who have been selected to perform in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

You will be able to catch their 20 minute concert on Monday, May 5th, 2008.
